The guest-house includes 15 rooms with a meditation hall, a dharma shop, a cyber coffee and a library which will all be run by the monks.

The purpose is to generate income hence enable the Shedra to be more independent and to meet all students’ needs. 

The guesthouse will be open to everyone who is willing to visit the Shedra, to study, to go on retreat and to visit the beautiful area of Darjeeling, as well as the nearby Sikkim.

 

In 2015, H.H Karmapa gave his blessing and support to the guest-house by signing an official letter.

His Eminence Lama Jigme Rimpoche offered a land for the guesthouse, located next to the Shedra.

The guesthouse will be composed of 4 floors as follow:

- ground floor (-2): laundry room, water treatment facility and garbage disposal

- first floor (-1): 9 guest rooms, single and double, most of them with attached bathrooms

- second floor (0): entrance of the guesthouse, with a restaurant, lobby and reception, and an inside zen garden

- third floor (1): 5 guest rooms, single and double with attached bathrooms 

- fourth floor (2): the roof will be used for solar panels

 

The total budget for the guesthouse is approximately of 370.000 euros.
